Tradition is one thing that has kept the Union City area close and unique. The small West Tennessee town is filled with hard-working individuals who strive to maintain traditions, and of course add new ones along the way. With the recent opening of Discovery Park of America located in Union City, the importance of growth in this small town is at an all time high. Discovery Park has not only become a central location for many traditions, but a new, exciting spin has been added to those traditions developed many years ago. A specific tradition that will never be forgotten is the love for cars in this area from old, classic cars to brand new “off the lot” cars. The car show first began at the Good Year plant, also located here in Union City, which sadly closed its doors in 2011. After a few years, Discovery Park of America opened its doors in 2013 with more opportunity and excitement to bring to this area. It was not long after grand opening that Discovery Park knew an annual car show would be one of many traditions added back to this area.
Summer of 2015 was the first car show hosted by Discovery Park of America and exceeded our expectations with an unbelievable turnout. The 2nd Annual Car show is expected to be even better. Saturday, June 25, will kick off the car with gates opening at 8:00 a.m. and the car show beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will be door prizes given throughout the day, and the awards will be given at 3:30 p.m. There will be awards given to the “Top 100 Cars” and also “Best of Show,” Mayor’s Choice,” “DPA Choice,” and “People’s Choice.” As if that was not enough excitement for one day, the grounds of Discovery Park of America will be FREE! If you wish to explore inside Discovery Center, you will need to purchase your general admission ticket for only $10, plus tax. We are so excited to invite you all out this coming Saturday, June 25, for a family fun day at Discovery Park of America! Find out more information on other upcoming events!
