Smoke fills the air from the cannons, soldiers fire off their muskets at the opposing side, and generals give commands to their armies on their next move. The year is 1861, and the United States are locked in a deadly Civil war.
Civil War Days 2018 is here at Discovery Park! Guests will get the opportunity to take a trip 157 years back in time to the Civil War. On the Great Lawn, there will be a Civil War encampment where the reenactors in period clothing will be stationed. Guests will be able to walk through the site, interact with the reenactors, and see the tents soldiers slept in during the war. Reenactors will also have live weapons demonstration throughout the day along with cannon firings.
Civil War Days is free with membership or park admission. Two timed events will occur on Saturday, April 21. At 1:30 p.m. will be a Ladies’ Tea event. Then, at 3:30 p.m., guests can watch a live skirmish on the lawn.
