Have you ever had a great idea that just needed to be written down? Writing our thoughts down, our ideas, or even someone else’s words and saving them for later can inspire us, encourage us, and even change our outlook on certain things in life. Writing is just as important today as it was hundreds of years ago. Good writing is especially important when it comes to the workforce and getting the word out about current events and even remembering things of the past. Discovery Park of America is an educational venue that sees the importance of having good writing skills, and proudly partners with WLJT – Public Television in their writer’s contest for 4th and 5th graders.

Discovery Park of America encourages all 4th and 5th graders to be creative and participate in the WLJT – Writer’s Contest this year! Winners will receive special prizes for their stories, and also their school will be a winner! Contest rules and other important information are listed below, or you can call Discovery Park’s education department at 731-885-5455. Kids should always be encouraged to write down whatever interesting, silly, creative, or serious stories pop into their minds. Kids are bright these days, and they have all the information they need at their fingertips. Allowing kids to be creative with their ideas, critiquing them where critiquing needs to be, and then seeing them excel later in life is a wonderful feeling. The contest is open now through April 1.
