The Robert E. and Jenny D. Kirkland Discovery Awards recognize individuals from West Tennessee whose work, like that of the museum and heritage park, brings enlightenment, awareness and education to those whose lives they’ve touched. The Gala and Fundraiser will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, philanthropists and others to celebrate the winners all of all of whom have deep roots in West Tennessee.
Jon and Jaimie Robinson are active in numerous charities and causes and served as co-chairs of the 2018 JDRF Promise Gala. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Robinson is in his fourth season leading the Tennessee Titans, and in 2017, was promoted to executive vice president/general manager.
Jon Robinson, who was born and raised in Union City, Tenn. and was a 1994 Union City High School graduate, made a name for himself early in his hometown as a leader in sports from little league to high school.
As he enters his fourth season as the Titan’s general manager, he is the only general manger during the “Titans” era (1999-present) to oversee three consecutive winning seasons.
With their victory on Saturday at New England, the Titans advanced to the divisional playoff round to play the AFC’s No. 1 seed, the Baltimore Ravens. The Titans made their second postseason appearance in four seasons under Robinson and earned a wild card win following the 2017 campaign.
Together, the Robinsons are making a difference, not just in West Tennessee, but around the nation by using their platform to educate the public about type 1 diabetes.
