Discovery Park of America is participating in Earth Science Week October 15-19, 2019. There will be a ton of different activities scheduled throughout the week for guests of all ages to enjoy. Be on the lookout for a schedule of events each day because every day is a new activity.
• 11 a.m. – Miss University of Tennessee at Martin 2019 Amanda Mayo will have a book reading of “The Sun is Kind of a Big Deal” by Nick Seluk
• 12-1 p.m. – Discovery Park visitors will learn how geoscientists use seismographs to learn about earthquakes and measure them. Guests will be able to make their very own seismograph to take home!
• 3-5 p.m. – Learn about the different types of clouds, how they form, and how to identify them. You can make a “frame” with all of the major cloud types on it, and use the frame to identify the cloud types while holding the frame up to the sky on a cloudy day. This craft is fun for visitors of all ages! If weather permits, this activity will be held on the porch of the Dog-Trot cabin. If there is bad weather, the activity will be held inside Dinosaur Hall by the big window.
