Discovery Park is hosting the TSLA teacher workshop on Thurs., Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.


Participants receive lunch, curriculum resources, and six hours of professional development credit!


Battle for the Ballot: An Inquiry Based Workshop on Woman Suffrage in Tennessee is an educator workshop series for teachers in K-12 classrooms focused on the story of the woman suffrage movement and the important role Tennessee played in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Sponsored by the Tennessee State Library & Archives, the Tennessee State Museum, and the Official Committee of the State of Tennessee Woman Suffrage Centennial, this workshop series will travel to several cities in Tennessee during the 2019-2020 school year.


Join us for this workshop to explore the story of the women’s suffrage movement and the important role Tennessee plays in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Designed for Tennessee’s classroom educators teaching topics such as:

  • The development of the women’s suffrage movement, including the Seneca Falls convention and the ideals of Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Sojourner Truth to the events of the 20th century and the showdown in Tennessee.
  • The organizations and individuals involved in the Suffrage Movement, both pro-suffrage and anti-suffrage.
  • Tennessee’s important role in the passage of the 19thAmendment.


Standards covered in this workshop include 5.09, 5.478.42TN.46, and US. 18.
