UNION CITY, TENN.– School is almost out, and it is time to get children and grandchildren enrolled for summer camp. Discovery Park of America is offering four summer camps in 2019.
“We have attempted to plan around other summer time activities that are already available,” director of education Polly Brasher said. “We didn’t do our camps on top of UTM’s summer program because we want the children in this area to have multiple educational opportunities throughout the summer months.”
The Summer Camps at Discovery Park are all designed to expand your child’s understanding of the world, while being a fun and entertaining way to spend time. “We hope that the children will make new friends, learn more about things that they might already be interested in and keep exercising their brains while being challenged in a fun setting,” Brasher said.
Parents can sign their children up now for any of the following four camps by calling or coming by the park:
• FINAL FLIGHT OUTFITTERS CAMP June 14-15 3:00 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. (weather permitting) – This is an overnight camp requiring that students bring a tent and a sleeping bag. Students will build a campsite and then enjoy archery, canoeing and enjoy a campfire dinner with storytelling. The cost is $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers which includes meals and supplies. This overnight camp is sponsored by Final Flight Outfitters of Union City and is ideal for children ages 10-12.
• LEGO CAMP July 9-12- This four day camp will be held Tues. through Fri., July 9-12, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily. This was DPA’s most popular camp in 2018 and it sold out fast. The students will enjoy a variety of challenging Lego projects as they learn to collaborate and work in groups. The price is $180 for members and $200 for non-members and includes lunch and supplies for all four days. This camp is ideal for children ages six and up.
• DINOSAUR CAMP July 13- A perfect summer camp for any child who is fascinated about dinosaurs and want to learn more. It will meet from 8:30 until 2:30 p.m. July 13. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members and includes lunch and all supplies. This camp is geared especially for children ages seven through nine years old.
• MINECRAFT CAMP July 20- This is a one day camp that will bring “Minecraft to life!” This camp will be held on Sat., July 20, from 8:30 until 2:30 p.m. The price is $35 for members and $40 for non-members and includes lunch and supplies. This camp is ideal for children ages eight through 11.
Registration forms for summer camp are available online and can be returned to the ticket counter or emailed to email@example.com and a staff member will contact you to pay by phone. Space is limited, therefore payment constitutes a completed registration. Please register by June 1 to ensure your child gets a spot.
