The 2024 Discovery Camp will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, Monday, July 8-Friday, July 12.

The cost is $100 for members and $125 for non-members. Lunch will be provided.

12-year-old through 17-year-old students will learn about a variety of scientific and historical topics through hands-on, engaging experiences across our Discovery Center and Heritage Park. Students will explore a variety of topics including:

Paleontology Day

• Come experience what it’s like to work in the field.
• Dig up bones, cast them and transport them back to Discovery Center for identification.

Greenhouse, Ag and Wildlife Day

• Learn how hydroponics work and build your own to take home.
• Then move on to the Simmons Bank Ag Center for more lessons.
• After that enjoy an insightful behind-the-scenes tour of our wildlife department.

Settlement Day

• Step back in time and learn how to build and craft as settlers did back in the 1800’s.
• Includes an old-timey picture in period clothing to take home.

Mystery Train day

• Can you solve the mysteries? First up is the Great Art Heist – a CSI and forensics mystery.
• Second up is the Banana Pudding Conundrum, solve clues and use your engineering skills to save the day.
• In the third plot, you must warn the town of the runaway train, can you solve it in time and sound the horn?

Cultural Day

• Students will learn about music, art and culture both abroad and in their own local community.
• Emphasis will be placed on the regional history of Obion County, but will also extend to broader world music and art.
