October 11, 2017 – Earth Science Week Fossil Day!
3:30 – 5:00, in Dinosaur Hall
Join us as Dr. Michael Gibson, Paleontologist and Professor of Geology at UT Martin presents information about Fossils and the displays in Dinosaur Hall at Discovery Park of America. Participating teachers will receive an Earth Science Week Kit for use in their classrooms.
This workshop is FREE to attend, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.

April 4, 2018 – The Tennessee State Library and Archive Presents: “Answering the Call: Tennesseans in World War I”
For the 2017-2018 school year, the Tennessee State Library & Archives education team has selected World War I as the topic for their teacher workshop series. Focusing on the analysis of primary sources in classroom instruction, this workshop will explore the various ways Tennesseans participated in the war and how the war’s development impacted Tennesseans, both at home and abroad. Topics include reasons for American entry into war, doughboy experiences, the home front, and new technology.
This workshop meets the curriculum standards for World War I found in the 5th grade, high school American history, and high school World history curriculum.
Licensed, teacher participants receive lunch and a $25 stipend to assist with mileage and travel expenses. Workshop locations and dates are listed below. There are 25 total seats available.
