Oct. 30, 2019 – Tennessee History for Kids Fall Retreat

Teachers from all over West Tennessee are encouraged to attend the 2019 TN History for Kids Fall Retreat on Wed., Oct. 30, at Discovery Park of America in Union City, Tenn. This event will have standards-based sessions covering:

What was happening when Tennessee became a state
What newspaper advertisements prove about slavery in Tennessee
An overview of Tennessee’s Civil War era
How to teach your students about the suffrage movement, and
Tennessee and its Civil Rights Movement

All teachers who are in attendance during this seminar receive a certificate showing six (6) hours of professional development training and samples of TN History for Kids curriculum booklets. Teachers will also be able to explore Discovery Park of America, with its 100,000-square-foot facility and 50-acre heritage park.

The event is $25 per teacher and includes lunch.
Registration is at 8 a.m.
Event begins at 8:30 a.m.
Lunch 12:30 – 1 p.m.
Event ends at 3 p.m.
