National Ag Day March 22, 2022

National Ag Day is held by The Agriculture Council of America (ACA), an organization uniquely composed of leaders in the agriculture, food and fiber communities dedicated to increasing the public awareness of agriculture’s vital role in our society. The Agriculture Council of America and the National Ag Day program was begun in 1973.
On March 22, Ag-related businesses and organizations will have booths with information and hand-on activities focused on innovation in how food, fuel and fiber products are produced, the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products around the world and the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy. There will also be special emphasis placed on career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.
Haley Wheeler, Miss Kentucky 2022, will be assisting in ag safe protocol demonstrations with The Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Turtle Plastics, Tennessee AgrAbility and Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS).
Dale Dobson, The Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s safety administrator, will be spotlighting road safety with a tractor auto demolition demonstration. He will also be educating those in attendance about grain safety using items on display in Discovery Park’s exhibit, “AgriCulture: Innovating for Our Survival.”

Other content that day will include a groundbreaking for the park’s new greenhouses and Farm Credit Mid-America Education Pavilion at 11 a.m. and activities in the Simmons Bank Ag Center and on the Nutrien Ag Solutions Mainstage. Hooker Farms will bringing a petting zoo for guests to enjoy. Also unveiled will be a new guided pollinator tour.
The day will also include a screening of the new film, “Farm Free or Die” from the American Resilience Project. The film advocates for the transformative agricultural policies that improve farming livelihoods and address the climate crisis. The 30-minute film will be shown throughout the day in the Tennessee Room. Show times for “Farm Free or Die” will be 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Students who are members of ag-related clubs or organizations will receive complimentary admission for the day, but application must be made in advance using this link.
