Discovery Park of America is raising funds for the Kirkland Scholarship Program which allows free admission for field trips to disadvantaged schools.  Disadvantaged schools have 50% or more of their students on free or reduced lunch.  The first one hundred people to contribute $500 to this fund will be invited to a special event at the home of the late Robert and Jenny Kirkland on Nov. 2.  The expansive Mediterranean-style villa houses extensive artifacts, art and unique collectibles accumulated by the couple during their travels around the world. Inspired by noted architect Addison Mizner, the estate embodies the idea of centuries-old connoisseurship of the decorative arts grounded by classic design. The atrium/entertainment loggia and fountain pool at the center of the home integrates indoor-outdoor living spaces with beautiful gardens lovingly designed by the Kirkland’s.  Visiting this home is like visiting a beautiful museum.

Included in this experience:

• Be among the very first 100 individuals to tour the home as the home opens to the public for this special event

• Explore the landscaped gardens nearest the home, including the Outdoor Chapel

• Experience all four floors of the mansion, including The Tower with views of surrounding fields and farmland

• Enjoy stories and details about the house and the family never before shared publicly by docents stationed throughout the home
