The Tools that Built Tennessee – Teacher Professional Development

In partnership with the Tennessee State Museum, Discovery Park will host a professional development class on Friday, June 28.
Discover the remarkable tools that shaped the history of Tennessee. This teacher professional development session is designed to provide educators with valuable insights and resources to enhance their teaching. We will be analyzing tools used from the prehistoric period up through statehood to learn how people lived and thrived in Tennessee. (And yes, you will get to touch actual artifacts.)
Teachers will become the students as we work our way through activities that you can use in your classroom to discover what these objects from that past tell us about the culture and history that formed our state.
Highlights include:
- Actual 3D objects that you can analyze and explore.
- STEAM and ELA connections as we explore the function and design of various tools.
- Ready to use materials and activities to take back to your classroom.
- Learn about the other FREE classroom resources of the Tennessee State Museum.
- Grow your content knowledge of early Tennessee history.
- 6 hours of in-service credit.
- Free lunch.
