Voices and Votes: American Experiments
Nov 2nd, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
“Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” is a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution that examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of, by and for the people,” and how each generation since continues to question how to form “a more perfect union.”
This traveling exhibit will be appearing at the Martin Public Library in Martin, Tennessee from 10/7/2023-11/19/2023. On Thursday, Nov. 2, a program in partnership with the traveling exhibit will be Discovery Park of America. This program is called “American Experiments.”
History Interns from UT Martin as well as Martin Public Library staff members will visit Discovery Park of America for the educational program. “American Experiments” is a set of four games to allow children and adults to discuss ideas critical to our democracy in a fun and informal environment. Each activity was developed by the Smithsonian Institution to encourage civil dialogue, participation, and interaction, all elements that are important to a healthy democracy.
