Bethany Brock Joins Leadership Team at Discovery Park of America as Director of Development

(Union City, Tenn., Aug. 9, 2024) — Discovery Park of America is pleased to announce Bethany Brock has joined the organization serving as director of development. The position was previously held by Mary Nita Bondurant who announced her upcoming retirement in June. In this role, Brock will be responsible for leading the development efforts, including fundraising, donor relations and strategic initiatives to support the museum and heritage park’s mission of inspiring children and adults to see beyond.

Brock brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in nonprofit development and community engagement. With a strong background in fundraising, grant writing and donor relations, Brock has successfully spearheaded numerous campaigns that have significantly contributed to the growth and sustainability of various organizations.

Prior to joining Discovery Park, Brock served as the assistant director and rural planning organization coordinator at the Northwest Tennessee Development District and Human Resource Agency where she played a pivotal role in acquiring grants in the Northwest Tennessee region. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in May 2018 with double Bachelor of Science degrees in Management and Marketing.

“Development is crucial for a non-profit museum as it ensures the sustainability and growth of the organization, so I am thrilled to welcome Bethany to our team,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Discovery Park. “With her extensive experience, knowledge of our region and passion for our mission, Bethany is uniquely qualified to lead our development efforts.”

In her new role, Brock will oversee the planning and execution of all development programs, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships and planned giving. She will also work closely with the board of directors, staff and volunteers to cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors.

“I am excited to join Discovery Park’s team and contribute to its mission,” said Brock. “I look forward to helping set and exceed new goals for the development department so we can continue to offer enriching experiences to guests while also expanding our reach and impact.”

Brock is originally from Trenton in Gibson County. She lives in Martin and is married to Sergeant Zach Brock with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department.
