Brushstrokes of a Young Nation: The Art of David Wright

June 30, 2026 – Feb. 1, 2027

As the United States prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, Discovery Park of America invites visitors to experience the nation’s early story through art. “Brushstrokes of a Young Nation: The Art of David Wright” is a special exhibition presented in the museum’s Southern Artist Showcase and as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration.

Through detailed and historically rich paintings, Wright brings the American frontier to life — capturing the people, landscapes and defining moments that shaped a young nation.

A visual journey through early America

David Wright is known for his realistic portrayals of frontier life. His paintings depict explorers, settlers, Native Americans and mountain men, offering a powerful look at the courage, hardship and determination that defined America’s earliest generations.

Wright’s commitment to authenticity sets his work apart. He researches historical records, wears traditional frontier clothing and participates in reenactments to better understand the lives of the people he paints. The result is artwork that feels immediate, immersive and deeply connected to history.

As America approaches its semiquincentennial in 2026, this exhibition offers a meaningful way to reflect on the nation’s origins and the spirit that continues to shape it today.
