Southern Artist Showcase: Home, Heart, Heritage Quilt Exhibition: Celebrating Black History
Feb 1st - Jun 21st

Beginning February 1, Discovery Park of America’s Southern Artist Showcase will feature Home, Heart, Heritage, a powerful community quilt exhibition developed by Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee, in celebration of Black History Month.
Launched in 2018, Home, Heart, Heritage is a five year collaborative art project that uses handmade quilts to honor the many ways Black Americans have shaped the nation through art, science, leadership, service and everyday life. Nearly 400 participants of all ages worked together to create the exhibition’s five quilts, learning history and sharing stories along the way.
The quilts explore themes including Tennessee Roots; Authors, Writers and Poets; Undertones: Black Women Rise; Science, Medicine and Technology; and Legacy of Patriotism and Valor. Each quilt features detailed imagery on both the front and back, highlighting creativity, teamwork and the enduring power of honoring our shared heritage.
