The Jackson Purchase Historical Society Meeting at Discovery Park to Feature Presentation on David Crockett

The Jackson Purchase Historical Society will begin the new year meeting at Discovery Park of America on Sat., Jan. 22 at 10:30 am. Discovery Park president and CEO, Scott Williams, will discuss his book, “The Accidental Fame and Lack of Fortune of West Tennessee’s David Crockett.”
In “The Accidental Fame and Lack of Fortune of West Tennessee’s David Crockett,” Williams uncovers what propelled Crockett’s fascinating journey, while also examining the birth of Tennessee during one of the most fascinating periods in American history.
The book will be available for purchase and signing. Following the meeting, attendees will be able to tour the museum and heritage park.
This will also be the perfect time for those interested in history to check out the temporary exhibit, “The Fascinating World of Murray Hudson’s Globes an Maps” on display in the museum’s ATA Traveling Exhibit Hall through March 1, 2022.
Attendees should check-in with guest services at the Discovery Park ticket counter. This event is free for members of The Jackson Purchase Historical Society, Discovery Park members and with park admission.
The Jackson Purchase Historical Society serves the eight far-western counties in Kentucky and the four counties along the northwesternmost border of Tennessee. The Society was founded in 1958 to serve the region by making its history available. In recent years, its programs and activities, which include an award-winning annual Journal, have received several awards and other recognitions.
