2026 Homeschool Days

Homeschool Days at Discovery Park of America offer a unique and enriching experience for homeschool families. With hands-on educational activities, interactive exhibits and special programs tailored to various age groups, these events provide an unparalleled opportunity to enhance your child’s learning outside the traditional classroom. Students will engage in STEM-based experiments, historical explorations and creative arts, all designed to inspire curiosity and a love for learning.

New for 2026:

Homeschool Days now offer two convenient session options, giving families the flexibility to choose the time that works best for their schedule. Students will be grouped by age for a more tailored experience.

Pricing:

Members pay a student early bird fee of $7 or a regular fee of $17, while non-members pay a student early bird fee of $17 or a regular fee of $27. Early bird registration closes the day before each Homeschool Day. Parent or guardian admission is $12.

January -Ring of Fire: Earthquakes, Volcanoes and More

“The Ring of Fire” refers to a line of volcanoes and earthquake-prone tectonic areas lining the Pacific Ocean. During this Homeschool Day, students will explore the geology of this and other awe-inspiring features of our planet.

February – Heredity and Traits

Unravel the mysteries of genetics during this engaging Homeschool Day focused on heredity and traits. Students will learn about DNA, explore how traits are passed from one generation to the next, and build a family tree.

March – Mythology & Legends

Step into the world of myths and legends during this imaginative Homeschool Day experience. Students will explore stories from Greek, Roman and Norse mythology, discover legendary heroes and gods and learn about mythical creatures that have captured imaginations for centuries.

April – Da Vinci Day

Celebrate the genius of Leonardo da Vinci during a day that blends art, inventions and mathematics. Students will explore the mind of one of history’s greatest innovators through creative and problem-solving activities inspired by da Vinci’s work.

June – America 250

Celebrate America’s rich history during this special Homeschool Day themed around the nation’s 250th anniversary.

July -America 250: Great Escape (Colonial Theme)

Step back in time to 1776 and test your wits in our immersive Colonial Escape Room. You’ll have to decode hidden messages and solve authentic historical puzzles to secure a vital secret before the Redcoats arrive. Do you have what it takes to outsmart the past and claim victory for the colonies?

August – Song Writing

Join songwriter Sean Gassoway for a participatory class on the art of writing and performing original music! Through collaborative teamwork, students will master the fundamentals of songwriting and explore how emotion and imagination fuel great music. This class provides the ultimate creative foundation, empowering students to continue crafting their own songs and finding a therapeutic sense of comfort in their music.

September -Ecosystem Explorers

Become a nature detective during this interactive Homeschool Day. Students will get hands-on with a real owl pellet dissection, conduct a pond study and explore local wildlife.

October – Early Settlers

Travel back in time during this Homeschool Day to explore pivotal moments in American history. Students will learn about key figures and events, including Columbus, the Trail of Tears and frontiersman David Crockett.

November – Structures and Bridges

Build and innovate during this hands-on Homeschool Day. Students will explore the principles of architecture, learn about different types of bridges and test their creations on an earthquake simulator to see which designs can withstand the shaking.

December – Ice and Snow Experiments

Embrace the winter season with exciting science. Students will perform experiments like “Instant Freeze” and more.
