Discovery Park kicks off “Let it Glow” Walk-thru and Drive-thru on Friday, Nov. 10 with special event and members-only Park After Dark
October 31, 2023
(Union City, Tennessee, October 30, 2023) — Discovery Park of America opens the 2023 “Let it Glow” Walk-thru and Drive-thru on Friday, Nov. 10 with a special kick-off ceremony at 6 p.m. Featured will be a performance of holiday favorites by internationally acclaimed soprano Sabrina Warren, an ensemble from the Jackson Symphony, the Voices of Union City Elementary student choir and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
In addition to his appearance at the kick-off, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the “Let It Glow” Walk-thru and available for photos with guests on several select dates throughout the holiday season. Find those dates and more details at discoveryparkofamerica.com/letitglow.
Discovery Park members receive free admission to the kick-off. Immediately following will be a members-only “Park After Dark” event. Both the museum and the entire park will be open for members until 9 p.m.
The 2023 “Let it Glow” Walk-thru light show has been expanded to include more of the north side of the park including The Settlement. Food and beverages will be available for sale at Eats ‘n’ Treats. The outside portion of the museum’s newest addition, “Duck, Duck, Goose: Waterfowl of the Mississippi Flyway,” located in The Settlement, will also be open for tours during “Let it Glow.” The exhibit explores the intersection of waterfowl hunting and conservation along the Mississippi Flyway.
At Mill Ridge, guests will once again find a shop with local handmade gifts for sale, Rudolph’s Barn, an area in the Smithy for children to write letters to Santa and more.
Just in time for the holidays, Discovery Park was recently featured with some of Tennessee’s other attractions in a travel-inspired toy catalog from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. Each attraction is represented by building blocks that can be purchased and built into a toy that represents that attraction. The Discovery Park Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossil building block set can be purchased online or at Discovery Park’s gift shop. Printable versions of the catalog are now available for download, and catalogs can be ordered at Tennesseeplaycation.com.
Discovery Park has also made gift vouchers for “Let it Glow” available to give as Christmas presents this year. “We’ve made it easy to share the magical experience of “Let It Glow” with your customers, staff, friends or family members with gift vouchers that are available at a discounted rate for 50 or more,” said Lauren Jones, Discovery Park’s director of events. “We have many companies that are giving each of their employees vouchers for both the Walk-thru and the Drive-thru.”
Those interested in “Let It Glow” gift vouchers or a holiday party at Discovery Park should email Jones at ljones@discoveryparkofamerica.com or call at 731-885-5455 for more information.
The 2023 “Let It Glow” drive-thru and walk-thru light show is sponsored by McDonald’s and ATA.
Both the “Let It Glow” Drive-thru and Walk-thru are open 5-9 p.m. from Friday, Nov. 10-Friday, Dec. 30, 2023, and closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Opening night of the “Let It Glow” Walk-thru will be free for Discovery Park members and $5 admission for non-members. Admission to the “Let It Glow” Walk-thru on all other nights is $5 for all guests with ages three and under admitted free. Admission to the “Let It Glow” Drive-thru is $10 per vehicle for all guests every night. Tickets may be purchased at discoveryparkofamerica.com/event/letitglow.
