2021 Calendar of Events

Discovery Park of America is excited to announce the 2021 calendar of events. Many of your favorite events are returning, and there will be new ones for you and your whole family to enjoy.

We are closed closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

New at Discovery Park of America

On Dec. 5, 2020, Discovery Park opened “AgriCulture: Innovating for Our Survival” in the Simmons Bank Ag Center. This permanent exhibit tells the story of farming innovation in the past, present—and especially—future in a fun and interactive way.

January 2021

Kids Free

Children 17 and under will receive FREE admission to Discovery Park’s museum and heritage park the whole month of January 2021. Plan a visit to explore our ten exhibit galleries focused on topics like Native American history, the military, natural history, science, space, technology, art and transportation. Also, walk through our 50-acre outdoor heritage park that includes a man-made river.

April 23-25, 2021

Military History and Armed Forces Symposium

This three-day event features a variety of programs and interactive activities that will interest the entire family. Enjoy a weekend that explores the past, present and future of the military. Sponsored by Union City Coca-Cola and Dixie Gun Works.

MAY 15, 2021

Cardboard Boat Regatta

Start making your boats early for the Cardboard Boat Regatta on the lake at Discovery Park. Boats can only be made of cardboard and duct tape – nothing more!

June 12, 2021

Cruise-In Car Show

Bring your favorite vintage cars to show on the grounds at Discovery Park. All participants who bring a car for the Cruise-In will receive complimentary admission to explore the museum and heritage park.

Independence Day Celebration

Discovery Park will be open on the Fourth of July with several outdoor historical activities in different areas of the park.

Aug. 6-7, 2021

Antique Tractor Show

Families from all over Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi load up their antique tractors and bring them in to showcase on the beautiful grounds of Discovery Park.  This event is sponsored by Blue Bank Resort and First Choice Farm & Lawn – Kubota.

Sept. 18, 2021

Pediatric Day

Discovery Park and Pediatric Place of Union City are partnering on Sept. 18, 2021, to provide information about a wealth of resources and services available to children in this area. There will be vendors and organizations located throughout the park with information, fun activities for kids and plenty of swag for both children and adults.

Sept. 25-26, 2021

Southern Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival

Numerous vendors will have their unique makings displayed inside Discovery Center at Discovery Park. See homemade pillows, jewelry, pottery, glassware, wood carvings and more as you walk through the galleries. The craftspeople will be selling their items, so bring some cash in case you find something you cannot leave without buying.

“Let It Glow” Light Show Drive-Through and—new for 2021—Walk-Through

The popular “Let It Glow” drive through light show returns in 2021, with a new component where guests can walk through a light show on part of the grounds. This event is sponsored by McDonald’s.
