Discovery Park of America Partners with “Ride the Fault Line” to bring bicycle tour to Obion County, Tennessee

(Union City, Tenn., April 5, 2024) — Discovery Park of America is partnering with organizers of the “Ride the Fault Line” bicycle tour to serve as “homebase” while participants are in Northwest Tennessee June 26 – 28, 2024. Cyclists will be taking advantage of their “nights at the museum” with private tours and presentations each evening. The final evening the group is in Obion County, June 28, coincides with the final night of Discovery Park’s annual music festival, Rhythm on the Rails, which features live entertainment, a cash bar and food and beverages for sale. That night, the festival will also include a southern fish fry and entertainment on the Total Tech Solutions Stage by Emily McGill and the Roy Band featuring Brady Weldon.

“Ride the Fault Line” is a bicycle tour through Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. Participants stop along the way to experience a variety of attractions and unique sites. The 2024 ride takes place June 22 – 28 and begins in Sikeston, Missouri at the Hot Air Balloon Festival. It concludes on June 28 at Discovery Park.

“Every year, we learn about the history of the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812. This year, we’ll actually be able to experience it in Discovery Park’s earthquake simulator,” said event organizer, Rodney McConnell. “This is now the only bicycle ride in the country where cyclists get to sleep amongst dinosaurs, vintage autos, a Titan missile and all the other amazing things on display at Discovery Park.

The list of other sites on the bicycle tour include the Piggot, Arkansas homestead where Ernest Hemingway wrote part of his novel “A Farewell to Arms,” The Reelfoot Lake Wildlife Refuge and several historic sites from The Civil War.

“While we have been a stop on the ride in the past, this is the first time we’ve been a venue where the cyclist actually spend the night inside the museum, said Scott Williams, Discovery Park’s CEO. “Having them here for the final night of Rhythm on the Rails is an added bonus.”
